Library News

Here we are at Easter already. We have recommended to students that they borrow an extra book during Library this week so they can continue reading over the holidays. Don’t forget our ebook websites from Wheelers and Overdrive so students can read online as well.

On Tuesday at midday, the shortlists for the Children’s Book of the Year Awards were announced.

Check out the CBCA website for the covers and summaries of the books. We will be studying these and doing our own voting before the winners are announced in August. CBCA Shortlist 2021.

We came across another great image about the value of reading this week from the Facebook page of the Goodwill Librarian.

Library lessons have been Amazing in the last week, with a story by Steve Antony about a boy with a dragon called Zippo who teaches him that he is 'Amazing'. We made our own dragons and gave them great names like Sugar and Speedy.

The week before we had a story about Norton and The Bear. Bear kept copying what Norton was wearing until Norton yelled at him. Bear was really kind and generous.

We discussed what we do when we get frustrated and our SOLE poster called “When someone or something is bothering me, my choices are…”

The poster suggests:

1. Keep doing what I’m doing

2. Move away

3. Ask someone for help.
