Vinnies Group Meeting

Last week, Mrs Kerry Setter attended a meeting with our Vinnies group at O'Connor.  It was a perfect opportunity to gain some guidance from Mrs Steller as she has many years experience in the St Vincent de Paul organisation. With Vinnies being such an important group in our City for assisting people in need, being involved in O'Connor's Vinnies group gives our students insight into how charitable institutions operate along with a wider view of the world.

Warramalaya Camp

Some of our ATSI students attended the Waramalaya Camp this week at Bonville. Mitch Tambo was in attendance and enjoyed engaging with students from across the Armidale Diocese. Mitch spoke of believing in yourself, the innate power and potential that Aboriginal young people have as passed on from thousands of years of ancestors and survival. He talked of sitting right where our kids were and that he found his passion and went after it no matter what others said and did to try and hold him back. He spoke of staying positive and focused and chasing dreams. He also spoke quite a lot about how incredibly important Aboriginal women are and that our mothers, aunts and sisters deserve the very best of love a respect. So many fantastic messages all spoken beautifully and so heart felt. Our students were enthralled.
