Principal's Report

Carly Avery

Dear Parents and Friends,

Thank you to those parents who were able to join us for our first Learning Walk on Monday. Whilst we only had a few parents able to attend, it was a positive experience with reflections shared in our Parent Engagement section. We will hold another learning walk in term three.

Invitation

Next Tuesday evening at 6:00 pm, we will be holding our second Parent Forum. We encourage you to take advantage of childminding and take the opportunity to share your thoughts on areas of future direction for St. Joseph’s.

THEIR CARE WILL BE OPEN ON OUR PUPIL FREE DAY TOMORROW THE 26TH OF MAY 2022

From Beechworth Surgery

In addition to very high rates of COVID-19 infection currently, we have also been picking up quite a large number of Influenza A (“the Flu”) infections through the surgery over the last two weeks. Many of these have been in local school-aged children or adults in contact with school children.

Influenza can have similar symptoms to covid and other respiratory viruses but often presents with fevers, chills, body and joint aches, headache sore throat and severe fatigue.

In addition to staying home when you are unwell, plus using masks and social distancing in public, everyone can reduce their risk of both COVID-19 and influenza by getting vaccinated against BOTH viruses.

Influenza vaccines are recommended for everyone over 6 months of age. They are available now through Beechworth Surgery for all age groups or from Beechworth Pharmacy for children and adults over 10 years of age (bookings required for both). Beechworth Health Service also has a walk-in clinic for those eligible for a government-funded influenza vaccine or COVID-19 vaccine every second Saturday.

To find out more about influenza or if you are eligible for a funded influenza vaccine go to https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/conditionsandtreatments/flu-influenza

To find out more about COVID-19 go to https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/ or call the Coronavirus Hotline line on 1800 675 398.
