Careers and Senior Pathways

Mid Year Exams

Mid-Year exams will be held for all Year 10 and Year 11 students between the 8th June to 16th June, 2022. It is important to note that Intermediate VCAL students are exempt from exams and are therefore expected to attend all normal classes. There is no study day for Intermediate VCAL students. Participating in mid-year exams offers students valuable learning experiences to prepare for their future Year 12 exams.  Year Level Leaders and classroom teachers will be supporting students to prepare for exams by discussing and practicing study and time management techniques. Please support your child to study for their exams by providing a quiet place for them to study at home.

Some exam tips for health and wellbeing:

  • Plan your study
  • Take rest breaks
  • Exercise regularly
  • Have enough sleep and not stay up late (particularly don’t stay up late on your phone or computer)
  • Eat a nutritious diet and keep hydrated.

During the exam period, Year 10 and Year 11 students are only required to attend their exams, and should study at home when they are not timetabled for an exam. For students who need to come to school to study, there will be study rooms available.

Summer or winter uniform must be worn to the exam.

Year 10 exams will be held on-site at Killester College in the Year 10 area.

Year 11 exams will be held at the Springvale Town Hall. Students are expected to attend all scheduled examinations. Please contact the school office to notify of a student absence during exams.

Careers and Pathways Events

Dear Killester Community,

Please see information below communicating a range of Careers and Pathways events. All Year 10, 11 and 12 students are encouraged to attend tertiary information sessions and events to further equip them with the knowledge as to the array of opportunities which are available to them post Year 12.

Year 9 'Choose Your Own Adventure' Monash University Event

On Thursday May 5, as part of the 'Wonder' program, all Year 9's participated in an event which was facilitated by Monash University called 'Choose Your Own Adventure'. This event provided an opportunity for Year 9 students to explore the array of varying careers and study options available to them after Year 12 by first investigating their personal interests and strengths. Thoughts were provoked as to the type of pathway students may like to select during the senior years of schooling followed by discussion of the purpose that further study and education provide. It was pleasing to observe the Year 9's approach this workshop in a mature, yet mindful way and I look forward to the Year 9's continuing with their Career based exploration throughout the remainder of the 'Wonder' program for Term 2.
