Principal's Message

Education week

It was great to see many school families taking the opportunity to visit classrooms during Education Week this year. Our Education Week activities included open classrooms on Tuesday afternoon, choir performances and of course the extremely popular book fair. Thank you to our staff who spent additional time preparing for the open classrooms, particularly at a time when normal school activities have been heavily impacted by student and staff absenteeism. Special thanks as always to our amazing librarian Janet Russell. Janet has an incredible passion for books and reading and her knowledge of student reading material is quite incredible.

Roofing works update

Many of you will have noticed the steel framework that is now in place at either end of the main corridor. Works are continuing on schedule and we remain confident that the works will be completed during the school holidays, with students being able to return to their designated classrooms for the commencement of Term 3.

2022 Junior Concert

Plans for the Junior Prep to Year 2 concert are well underway. The theme of this year's concert is Ocean Commotion with performances scheduled for August 9th and 10th. Rhiannon Trimby has called for volunteers to assist with costumes – if you are interested and able to help, please contact Rhiannon at rhiannon.trimby@education.vic.gov.au (please see the separate information elsewhere in this newsletter)

Prep enrolments

We continue to be busy conducting school tours for prospective Old Orchard prep students for 2023. If you are a current Old Orchard family with a 2023 prep child, and have not yet submitted an enrolment form, we ask that you do this as soon as possible.

Kind regards

Duncan
