NAPLAN
This week our Grade 3 and 5 students completed NAPLAN online for the very first time. Tests such as NAPLAN can be a stressful time for our students, and we are so proud of the way all students handled the assessments over the three days. Well done to all students and teachers involved. Catch up sessions will be held next week for students that were away.
Mothers’ Day Breakfast
What a beautiful breakfast we had last week celebrating some of the most special people in our lives. While it was definitely a chilly morning, we had a wonderful turn out of mums, carers and special people who were treated to a delicious pancake breakfast. I know the students were extremely proud of the gifts they had made and loved the opportunity to show off some of their learning in their classrooms. A big thankyou to the Grade 1/2 and 3/4 teachers along with their dedicated volunteers who made this such a special morning.
Our Facebook page has a beautiful slideshow of images taken throughout the morning.
Classrooms are Open!
It has been fantastic to see more and more parents coming in now that the department’s guidelines have allowed us to open our classrooms up for parents. Our students love sharing their learning and any assistance such as reading with students in the morning is greatly appreciated by our teachers. For me, our parents, carers and friends have been the one piece of the puzzle we have been missing for too long so it is great to have you all back as we begin rebuilding that Eastie community we are known for.
Cross Country
This year’s cross countries were run and won last week with all students who participated giving it their all. Displaying grit and resilience students pushed themselves to their limits to finish the trying course. There was a great feeling throughout both the senior and junior carnivals with the true Eastie spirit on show as students and families cheered participants on in full voice. Mr Holmfield will now take a team to the Campaspe cross country in Moama next Thursday who I am sure will represent our school with pride. As always, we thank Mr Holmfield for the amazing events he puts on time after time.
Enrolments are Open
If you ask me, Echuca East is the best kept secret in education, and it is time to let the secret out. As members of our Echuca East community, you are our best and most trusted advocates so if you know anyone with a child starting school in 2023, be sure to let them know the great things that are happening here at East. If you happen to have a child of your own beginning Prep next year and you haven’t already let the office know, please do so and we can start getting their transition to school underway. Enrolments are currently open with tours of our great school available anytime that suits perspective families.
