Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant!

We have been successful with our application for a 2022 Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant for a new garden for CHPS!  The money is going towards a school vegetable garden outside the canteen. The aim is to have as many students involved in the planting of the vegetables, which will then be available for our canteen lunches.

The garden will also house the Green Cone compost (fundraised from our Clean Up CHPS Day). This will reduce the amount of food waste going into the rubbish. Unlike traditional composts, this is partly buried to avoid pests and breaks down directly into the garden bed. We also hope to include a worm farm in the budget.

CHPS is one of 1,054 primary schools and early learning centres throughout Australia receiving a Woolworths Junior Landcare grant to help grow our next generation of environmental champions.

The children and teachers are looking forward to working and learning from this project and we’ll keep you updated on the results.

A special thanks to Melinda Wilson for her time and effort in applying for the grant and making plans for our gardens.
