Welcome back

Next Tuesday our 4/5/6 students return to school from the very long remote learning program. It has been a long time since they were here and we have missed them terribly. I would like to thank the parents for all their hard work in assisting the kids over this very difficult time.

Thank you!!!

A big thank you to all the parents who chipped in for the ‘tab’ at the iPugliesi', allowing staff to buy a cup of caffeine. Your kind gesture is very much appreciated by all who frequent such a great little local.

Enrolments

We are taking enrolments for 2021 and we are very delighted with the high level of interest in Newlands. For those parents who do not have siblings at the school, and wish to enrol please follow our enrolment process:

  • Completed enrolment form; paper copy, or emailed.
  • copy of the birth certificate
  • copy of the immunisation certificate

Without all documents being available the enrolment is not considered complete.

Bragging Board

We have installed two ‘bragging boards’ on the school fences in Symons Street and on the corner of Elizabeth Street. I liked to thank Luke and Sonya for their design and photographic skills and organisation to get the sign erected.

I’m sure you will agree a very fetching display for our community.

Monday holiday

Reminder we are not at school on Monday 8th June as it’s a public holiday.

Not being late

We are appreciate that the combination of Covid and the limited access to the school due to building works has been frustrating for parents. However we do expect children to be at school ready to start learning at their grade levels allocated time.

We would appreciate your cooperation in getting to school on time.

Absence from School

Now that we fully understand the importance of staying away from others if you are unwell, we do ask that you follow these procedures if you have a child with mild symptoms of a cold or such. If suspect a child to be unwell we will contact you as the parent to come to school and collect your child.

Nit Season

We are heading into Nit season as we enter the winter season. Nits do not jump they transfer from head to head via hair strands. We ask that students with long flowing locks please come to school with their hair tied back.  We will contact families if we suspect your child has nits or headlice and support you through the process of treating them.
