Classroom News - Year 2

Miss Simpson and Mrs Phelps continue to be very proud of their Year 2 learners, and how well they have adapted to online learning and Project Based Learning. This week we have seen some great work on the life cycle of a turtle, turtle adjectives, the impact of pollution on turtles and weavings to create hatchlings. It has been great to see the extra engagement our Turtley Awesome Project has created in the children. Tomorrow we are having an exciting Zoom meeting at 10am with a volunteer from Queensland conservation, who looks after sea turtles. We will hear lots of interesting stories from Leisa, we thank Katherine Polain for organising this special treat.

Last week there was plenty of quality learning about multiplication created when Year 2 engaged in our Marvellous Multiplication PBL. Arrays, columns and rows were thoroughly explored by everyone. Some great veggie patches were created demonstrating understandings about groups and arrays.

It has been lovely to see the faces of the children returning to their one day a week of learning. This has created a lot of excitement and enthusiasm in Year 2. On our days at school, we need the children to have their online learning pack for this week, a set of headphones and a water bottle. There is an opportunity to borrow from the library each day for children who do not have books already borrowed in their name.
