JRC (Junior Resource Centre) News

Welcome to all our Year 7’s and other new students throughout the school!  We look forward to seeing you all in the Junior Resource Centre (JRC) this year.  We are always here to help!

Smartsuite: Please reset your password

Due to changes in password encryption, all students (new and old) need to reset their Smartsuite passwords.  This is very important as Smartsuite provides access to English resources like films, audiobooks and study guides for study.  Functional Solutions (Smartsuite) has emailed students with details of how to do this, or you can follow these instructions:

Compass > star > Smartsuite

Enter your Compass username > NEXT

The system will then ask for your current password - Enter Frankston (all lower case)

You will then be asked to reset your password.  We strongly recommend that you use your Compass password so it’s easy to remember.

Students must complete these steps to be able to access Smartsuite.

Year 7 Borrowing

Year 7 library accounts are up and ready for use!  Students can borrow up to 5 books at a time for a 2-week period.  We also have lots of great resources available online on our catalogue and digital library.

Smartsuite (our catalogue and library homepage): access from the star menu on Compass.  Parents, can you please assist your student to change their Smartsuite password as detailed above.  Students can search books, watch our extensive collection of movies online, access great databases including Worldbook Online and English specific resources.

ePlatform (our digital ebook and audiobook library):  access from the star menu on Compass, or via Smartsuite.  To logon enter your student Compass details.

We have been very impressed by the enthusiasm the new Year 7s have shown towards reading!

Lunchtime/Recess Activities

On hot weather days the JRC is the coolest place to be at recess and lunchtime!  We have lots of board games on offer, grab a book, get on the web or just have a chat with friends.   Chess Club will be running on Monday and Wednesday lunchtimes.

Library Loans

Just a reminder that library loans are for 2 weeks only and students are expected to renew or return their books after this time.  Whilst we don’t charge overdue fines, if your book is long overdue you will need to pay for a replacement.  Students will receive reminder emails 2 days prior, 3 days and 14 days from their loans being overdue, which makes keeping up to date easier.  After this point parents will be contacted.  Replacement costs for overdue books from 2021 will be invoiced soon.
