Kitchen and Garden and Sustainability News

Hello Surfside Community,

It’s wonderful to be back in the Kitchen and Garden for 2022 and we are looking forwards to starting classes with the grade 6’s next week.   We are excited to have Clancey McKenzie in the garden this year as our Garden Specialist and will introduce her a little more in our next newsletter.

We have had such a great group of volunteers help out in our Kitchen and Garden program and look forwards to working with this amazing community again.  We couldn’t do it without you!

We would love anyone that is interested in helping out this year to get in contact with Fleur (for the kitchen) and Clancey (for the garden):

Fleur - fleur.kilpatrick@education.vic.gov.au

Clancey – clanceymckenzie@hotmail.com

You don’t have to be a green thumb or a kitchen whizz to assist in our classes, it’s all about engaging and having fun with our students in our wonderful real life class room.

All volunteers need to have a current Working With Children's Card and have done the annual Induction at our office. Please contact our office for further details.

Clancey will be gardening each Wednesday morning from 8.30am – 11am and she will welcome anyone that would like to help out.  If these times don’t align with you please still get in contact because there may be other tasks that can be done on different days.

We haven’t yet got our new chookies and would much appreciate some eggs for next week’s classes so if there are any spare eggs out there in our Surfside community they would be very welcomed. Thank you.
