Dear Parents, 

What a fantastic start to the year we have had. In the past week we have welcomed our 57 new Kinder children, had our school swimming trials and finalised our classes and whole school staffing for 2022.

Thankyou everyone for your patience whilst we welcomed and enrolled many new children to Bathurst Public School. We are excited with our school structure for 2022. The structure for 2022 is:

BPS SWIMMING TIME TRIALS EVENT - Last Friday we conducted a different sort of swimming carnival. As a result of COVID safety guidelines, we had no spectators and competitive swimming only. While we were sad not to have as much of the school there and could not offer the opportunity for participation by all, it was a wonderful event and competition on the day was high. Children cheered on old and new friends and enjoyed being with their friends in the stands. We thank parents for understanding our limitations in organising this event and in helping us comply with guidelines to keep our children COVID safe. Thankyou to the staff who attended and to Mrs Francis for her organisation of the day. Our age champions were;

Our School Photos will be taken on Tuesday 1st March. We will be using Advanced School Photography. Envelopes for school photos will be sent home in the next week.

As a staff we continue to modify our Assessment and Reporting practices so we can ensure parents obtain feedback each term on their child’s progress from their child’s classroom teacher. At anytime, if parents have any concerns or issues about your child’s learning, you are encouraged to contact the school to make an appointment to speak with your child’s classroom teacher. The Assessment and Reporting schedule for 2022 is:

• Term 1 Week 5 – Wednesday 23rd February to Thursday 24th February – Support Unit Parent/Teacher Interviews
• Term 1 Week 8 - Monday 14th March to Friday 18th March - Parent Teacher Interviews
• Term 2 Week 9 – Semester 1 Reports home
• Term 3 – Parent/Teacher Interviews
• Term 4 - Semester 2 Reports home

Parent/Teacher Interviews have been organised for Wednesday 23rd February-Thursday 24th February for the Support Unit and Monday 14th March-Friday 18th March for all other classes. These meetings will allow parents to meet teachers, talk about what is to be taught this year and how your child has settled into the 2022 school year, plans for the school year, class expectations and parent expectations. More information about these meetings will be available soon.  

Rapid Antigen Test Kits - the next fortnight supply of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT'S) Kits were sent home with children yesterday. Parents are encouraged to test children every Monday and Wednesday please. If your child did not bring their kit home, please contact the school for a replacement.

Sentral has been in maintenance mode whilst work was being conducted to have it ready for the 2022 school year. Sentral will be operational for parents again from 4pm this afternoon.

Our School Newsletter will be uploaded every Thursday so all parents receive information at the same time. If you would like the school newsletter emailed direct to you please contact our Front Office staff or refer to the Bathurst Public School website to access the weekly newsletter.
