Staying Alive in Year 4/5

Just like the Year 1's, the Year 4/5 M class are absolutely thrilled to be back at school, being back with their friends and continuing their learning in class. We've had a great start to the year, with the ALL BOYS class getting organised with their learning. Our Learning Dispositions have been in our school for a couple of years now, but with the interruptions over the past few years, we are making it a focus for the new school year.

These are important dispositions that all effective students exhibit when they are learning. In class we have been focusing particularly on the disposition of Self-Managing ie. a students capacity to make sure he has all the resources available and ready to learn. It is so fantastic seeing all the boys back in our Year. We are so excited to be back!!!

Congratulations, Joel Roney, you STAR!

And finally, what an amazing achievement by our very own Joel Roney, our Year 6 student from last year who was awarded the honour of tossing the coin at the Australian Open last weekend. All the Roneys must be SOOO proud, as are we! Now we want to see you play in one, Joel! Well done!

Years 3/4 are learning more!

In Maths this week, we learnt a new game that we called Connect 5.

Connect 5 is a game of luck and it can be very frustrating. You play it in pairs and you need two 10-sided dice and a 100 counting chart. You have to roll the dice, look at the numbers and decide what 2 digit number it will be. Then you cross this number on the counting chart. You have get five numbers crossed in a row.

We played the game which was fun and I made Connect 5 one time.

The game was fun but also a bit tricky because sometimes when I needed to get a particular number, it was already taken.

My partner was Lauren and it took a long time for one of us to get five in a row.

I worked with Jonathan. It was a bit hard because sometimes the space you wanted was not there. But it was fun.
