Homework
Homework
Every night students are to read. This might be a novel, a newspaper, comic or short text. We also encourage students to be physically active through playing sport or going for walks and completing chores around the house. In addition to this, frequently practising Times tables will support your child’s recall and they might like to learn a language on Duolingo and practise their German. All of these additional activities and developing these skills or concepts ensure students are developing what we call “soft skills”, like social skills, communication, high-order thinking (problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making), self-control, and positive self-concept, organisation and responsibility.
When homework is provided, it will not be reported on and students will not be provided feedback. The purpose of homework is to provide students with an opportunity to develop organisational skills, to manage time effectively and continue to develop the essential skills of reading and mathematics. Homework is in no way intended to be another layer of formalities, but rather a routine of establishing a school-life balance and developing your child's identity and well-being.
