From the Principal

Ready Set GO!!!

We now have a start date for our Multi-purpose hall!!! work will commence on Wednesday 16th March 2022!! On this date we will see the fences go up around the construction site in preparation for the build. The site will have its own entry and exit point on Paterson Road to minimise the need for the use of the school main gate to be used. However with consultation and at appropriate times some use of the drive through path may be required for some deliveries to the site.

Parking on our site will be reduced as the area behind the portable will no longer be available. So it is vital that all car parks are for staff use only.

We are planning a sod turning ceremony to mark the commencement of the construction the week before. It will be exciting to mark this milestone with all the 2022 children and bless the site and all the workers who will contribute to the build. We are all looking forward to seeing the changes that will occur on our school site.

The building will be completed at the end of this year and we look forward to being able to open it with a BIG celebration in 2023.

Connecting for a Spirited Tomorrow

Today we gathered on the basketball court for our beginning school liturgy. We held the prayer service outside so that we could gather safely as a school.

Fr Des joined us and led our prayer. Our theme this year is "Connecting for a Spirited Tomorrow."  Fr Des reminded us that it is about us being moved by the spirit to act. Like our Vision statement to be animated by love to do things for others and for our community. It was a sunny afternoon, but very windy. The wind cannot be seen but we can see what it does when it moves things. The spirit is the same, we cannot see the spirit but we can see when it is present by the way we are moved to act for one another.

So we pray that 2022, we are all moved to act with kindness and gentleness and be animated by love for one another. We pray for our new Preps and all our students, teachers and families that we will all have a great year and experience many blessing. May it be a year that we learn and grow and flourish to be the best version of ourselves and the best community to bloom and grow.

Rapid Antigen Tests

On Thursday 10th February your eldest or only child at St Francis de Sales should have brought home a box of 5 RATs tests for each child at SFS. If you did not receive the RATS please contact the office. These RATS are for use in the next two weeks. As before, please do the test at home on a Sunday night and Wednesday night. It is important that you inform the school if the test is positive and go into quarantine as a family for 7 days.

We are very grateful to our SFS community for supporting all the COVID safe measures we have put into place. Together we are doing a great job in keeping our school community safe and for learning to continue without any interruptions. Let's keep going.

We will keep all the rules in place for the next two weeks and then hope we can begin to relax some as the situation in Melbourne improves.

SFS will be a Vaccination Centre

On Sunday February 20 from 2 to 6 pm our school will be a place that our primary aged students to receive the COVID vaccine for children. The second dose will be available on Friday 22/4 also at SFS. We encourage parents to take advantage of the convenient location.

Please use this link to book your child/children's appointment/s. Please note that the venue is at St Francis de Sales 122 Patterson Drive, Lynbrook and NOT at the medical centre in the booking form.

COVID-19 vaccinations for students are not required for them to attend school but vaccination for students is encouraged.

We really encourage all parents, old and new, to join the P&F, as it plays a vital part of the school community and enriches our children's school experience. The 2021 PFA Committee did a wonderful job last year and I thank them for all their efforts.

We look forward to welcoming lots of new members to the  P&F Committee in 2022.
