Enter the Wellbeing Zone

Welcome to the Wellbeing Zone. When you enter the zone, you will find a wealth of information about all the things happening in the Wellbeing space at Sunshine Heights PS as well as strategies, articles, book recommendations and events that will help build our dream and culture of Wellbeing throughout our school community, inside and outside of school, so that we can sail together through a universe of possibilities with all the emotional and social skills we need to thrive.

We are Family.

We are super excited to have our entire Sunshine Heights Family back onsite now and it was such a buzz to welcome all of students with open arms. For the rest of the term, we will be zooming on their Wellbeing and ensuring that all students have the wrap around support and skills they need to transition back with everyone and to be a part of a wider whole school community again.

As always, we are here to support, and if you have any specific concerns about your child's wellbeing as they transition, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

With love,

Francine

Meet the OTs

We couldn't have been more excited to welcome our four Occupational Therapy students from La Trobe University to the Sunny Heights Wellbeing Family and wanted to introduce you to them! Our four students - Rene, Hazel, Aleisha & Jessica - will be working with students referred by the teachers and ES staff, adding an additional branch to our Wellbeing support tree. Please make them feel welcome! They will be with us until the end of November!

Student Voice Survey

Last term, one of our amazing student leader's - Daisy - put out a survey during last remote learning period to get student ideas on what they would like to see happen around the school. Based on the ideas provided, Daisy has now created a shortlist of the top ideas and she would love to hear your voice to help decide on which ideas will be pursued across 2021/2022.

Don't forget to jump on and vote.

E-Safety for Parents

As we continue to have important discussions to our students about being safe and responsible online to help empower and educate, we will continue to share resources with parents to also help facilitate those important conversations at home and to empower our young people.

The E-Safety Commissioner is one such vital resource. Julie Inman Grant leads the world's first government agency committed to keeping its citizens safer online. eSafety is an independent statutory office supported by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

They have a wealth of articles, webinars, information and resources for parents to help them to guide their children in the safe use of technology and online platforms.

Helping kids focus on what they can control

Despite our new found freedom, there is still a lot of unknown surrounding us all at the moment, particularly as students transition back to school. This can cause a great deal of anxiety for our young people, which is why helping them to focus on what they can control can be a really useful tool to help them cope with those grey, unknown areas.

Our favourite people over at Big Life Journal have posted a great article with some great ideas on ways to help kids focus on what they can control!

Social Work Survey

Our wonderful social work student, Shayla, needs your help! She is gathering demographic data from our awesome community to help create a social and cultural report for her placement projects. She would greatly appreciate it, if you were able to take a few moments to complete her survey and help her with this information. Survey responses are entirely anonymous.
