STEM
This year in STEM has been a big one!! The year kicked off with a term on robotics and coding. Students from Year 1 - Year 6 got to experience the Lego WeDo, Spike and EV3 robots. They got involved in building, coding and debugging to complete a range of different challenges.
Students then spent the remainder of the year focusing on various areas of Science including Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Throughout all the different topics the students got to participate in a range of different experiments that gave them quality hands on learning experinces.
Some of our experiments this year included:
- Finding Invisible Inks
- Paper Chromatography to discover texta colour
- Recycling Paper
- Measuring how light reflects and refracts with torches and lasers
- Making Icecream with science
- Growing vegetables for our garden
- Looking at the life cycle of plants
- Investigating the properties of different materials and then using those materials appropriately to complete challenges
- Learning about how we affect the environment around us
- Investigating frequency and amplitude of sound by making music in beakers with water
- Exploiting the properties of whiteboard markers to make "dancing" images on dinner plates
- AND many, many more.
I hope everyone has had a great year in STEM and is looking forward to another big year in 2022!!
