Year 5 & 6 - 2021

Excursions

Chinese Museum

"When we arrived at the city we saw Chinatown and the colorful structures full of history. We had a tour guide that told us the history of the different streets and showed us around. We learned about the origin of tea and the different types. During our trip we saw detailed exhibits showing how it was like in the past there were miniature and life size. On our way out we saw different dragons from festivities. It was a great experience."

Dream City

"Dream City was an amazing experience, we got to do a lot of tasks like plane simulator, virtual reality and surgery simulation, where we got to experiment with real equipment. My favorite activity was virtual reality, where  I met a robot that looked like WALL-E. In the plane simulator I was really bad but I got better after the death of 500 people."

- Sakina 6E

“I loved my experience in Dream City. There were so many activities we could try out which included Virtual Reality, Flight Simulator, Surgery, Engineering, Podcasting, TV Broadcasting, Sport and so much more. My favourite was the Flight Simulator. Even though I crashed many times, I still had a very fun experience.”

- Naomi 5B

"I loved Dream City. It was a great experience for all year 5 and 6.

It was a great opportunity to try some jobs we might do in the future. My favourite parts were the jumping and running, VR and flight simulator. The flight simulator was the best and I was really good at it. I got an amazing score on the jumping. I hope we can do it again soon."

- Liam 5B

"I love Dream City because Dream City has lots of fun things to do. There was VR, sports science and many more. Dream City was about what jobs you will like to do when you grow up or having fun with different people in your group. We all had a group that went to different activities. My favourite activity was the VR and the sports jumping because it was amazing fun."

- Ashlyn 5T

"Dream City was a great experience where we got to explore more of our possible future careers. One of my personal favourites was electrical engineering as we got to create different objects, for instance, working lights. Another activity most of us enjoyed was VR (Virtual Reality). In VR we could even progress in levels. Dream City is a place I would be overjoyed to go again. It truly was an outstanding experience!"

- Elyann 5B

Sport Events

“My favourite sport event was definitely athletics. I loved the feeling of running around in the sun while a bunch of students were sitting in the bleachers cheering for their house colour!!! Getting ribbons at the end was the best part, and even though you wouldn’t get first, you would still get a pat on the back, a secondary ribbon, and pride.”

- Sanomi 6E

“I love the Athletics Carnival as it is my favourite sporting event of the year. I enjoy competing in the 100m and 200m sprint and it’s so fun versing my fellow peers in a friendly competition. Cheering on everyone adds to the excitement and I like listening to the funny cheers people come up with. Ribbons are a fun part of the event and getting rewarded is something I enjoy.”

-  Pele 5B

“My favourite event in sport was the inter-school sports. There were sports like kickball, AFL and many more. I was a part of the BEPS Netball team, and I enjoyed being the Centre or the Goal Attack during the rounds of a game. I loved learning what each role does, and where they are allowed to be. Overall, I enjoyed being a part of the team with my friends.”

- Winnie 5B

Remote Learning

“Remote learning was a different type of experience. Since it was our second year it was understandable and easier to figure out the websites and zoom. It was fun in a different type of way - some activities worked better at home than at school. It was great to have more time to finish work and a chance to get some more sleep. My favourite part was our class zooms.” - Tia 6S

“Remote learning was a bit strange and difficult for many of us due to many reasons. But eventually overtime I would like to think that many of us were able to ease into this new way of learning and were eventually able to find it enjoyable or even kind of better than face to face learning (but I doubt most did). Though remote learning took some adjusting too, it did offer me more time to do my work and even allowed me some peace and quiet. But I think the thing I found most enjoyable about it was the clubs that we got to do.”

- Isabellah 6S

“Remote Learning was definitely an easy one for us. Since we knew the ‘Remote Learning’ stuff, we conquered lots of tasks and meetings easily.  The best time in Zoom was the hooks. They were really fun. The online camp was especially exciting, and over 98% of the VHAP program I did was over remote learning! We utilised Google Classroom and the ‘BEPS remote learning site’. What I found most fun was the clubs, and the Specialists!”

- Olyvia 5T

"Remote Learning was a challenging time for all of us (am I right). It was so boring going on zoom early in the morning and barely, yes barely, seeing your friends or talking to them over zoom because we had to listen to the teachers. Also we could not call out to talk to our friends and usually the chat was disabled because people would say things not related to schools. But it was good for one thing and one thing only; getting food at anytime, so that was a big yes."
