Visual Arts
The Visual Arts program has provided a variety of learning opportunities for students at Burwood East. Students have created art inspired by recognised artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Gustav Klimt and Frida Kahlo.
Students learned about the artist and their artwork. This then inspired students to create their own artwork. Students did drawings with oil pastels, grey lead pencil, coloured pencils, textas , water colour pencils and crayons. Paintings were created with water colour paints and acrylics, and during our Inquiry of ‘I am a Chemist’, shaving cream mixed with acrylic paint.
Students in Year 4 created paper sculptures inspired by Frank Stellar. Foundation students learned about the art technique of finger painting and created finger painted inspired trees. Year 5 and 6 students created The Tree of Life by drawing and then painting with gold acrylic paint. Students were given the opportunity to create an art piece using air dry clay.
Students are given many choices and a voice in the Visual Arts. Only the artist can decide what to paint, draw or make.
