Last week’s Physical Education lessons involved students from Foundation & Years 1 & 2 taking on the ‘Ball & Spoon Race,’ and ‘Get It Done’, and the Years 3-6 students taking on the game of ‘Rotten Tomatoes’.

Once again, the students were able to play these games by themselves or with another person. They watched videos showing them how to set up the games and then how to play the games. Check out the photos and videos to see the fun and skills shown by our students!

STEM MAD LIVE

On Thursday, 14th October 2021 students from Foundation to Year 6 participated in STEM MAD Live remotely and at school. 

MACS Executive Director Jim Miles says:

 “STEM MAD (Making a Difference) Showcase is a celebration of student learning, designed to acknowledge and promote STEM learning initiatives that address real-world problems and demonstrate the distinct ethos of Catholic schools.”

Our students did ‘Make A Difference’ in the areas of wellbeing, mental health and physical disabilities. On the day, students listened to guest speakers, participated in STEM challenges and received acknowledgement for their designs and prototypes. The students were buzzing with excitement remotely and at school, finding out that some of our ideas and inventions were top three finalists and winners. I would like to congratulate, and thank students, parents and teachers for allowing the children to work on their project and supporting them through this journey to solve real-world problems. I would like to congratulate the following students who participated in STEM MAD as our finalists.

Salve a tutti!  (Hello everyone)

As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, (in the term overviews), you may have read that the main topic that I will be focusing on in italiano this term with all the children, in one way or another is, ‘Il Cibo’ - Food. 

With Grades 3-6, we have started talking about ‘Pasta,’ mainly types of pasta, how pasta is made and origins of pasta. In saying that last week I set a task with all the Grades 3-6, to design then make an Italian inspired pasta collage out of different dry pasta shapes that they had at home. The ragazzi  were then asked to write a simple Italian sentence describing what pasta shapes they used in their design.

Some great creations were made, as you will see in today’s photo presentation.
