St John's Chickens

Thanks for sending in all of your suggestions for naming our new chickens. The Sustainability Team is working together to come up with the final 5 names.

The chickens have settled in well and are adjusting to life in the playground. They are very tame and friendly. They haven't laid any eggs yet but it should be any day now.

We can't wait for you to meet them.

Remote Learning

Students continue to amaze us with the quality of work that they are producing while working remotely. The Year 5/6 movies from last term are fantastic, demonstrating their skills in media production.

I asked some students "What is great about Remote Learning?" Their responses were:

  • games and puzzles before meets
  • Kahoot challenges
  • shared writing
  • more time to research topics
  • socialing before meets begin
  • sharing weekend news
  • getting work done earlier
  • easier to focus
  • bucket filling activities are good morale boosters and seeing friends on the meet
  • working at your own pace
  • jokes before the google meets
  • 9 letter challenges
  • focus groups are really helpful

Future Leaders

Today our future leaders met online and discussed ways that we can support students to transition comfortably back to school. Some suggetsions included:

  • being in your own classroom
  • older students wearing face masks
  • using hand sanitiser regularly
  • don't share equipment
  • being socially distanced, moving tables and ensure extra spacing on the floor
  • more games and time outside
  • less work
  • no homework in the first week

Hopefully we can accommodate some of their suggestions.

Fun Fridays

Our Circus day was creative and productive last Friday with students entertaining each other with their crazy costumes and fun antics.

This Friday is 'Think Pink Day'! It will be our last whole school Fun Friday with students returning to school next week. Individual classes may choose to run their own Fun Friday themes but all students attending onsite need to be in their school uniform each day. Please remember to bring your school hats.
