P & C Report
The GIHS P&C had their AGM in March. Elected roles are:
President: Leanne Eastwood
Treasurer: Nicole Husband
Vice President: Anna Watt
Vice President: Tammy Chard
Secretary: Vacant Casual position ATM
At the last P&C General Meeting that followed, the committee approved supporting the GIHS Ag Students attending the Royal Easter Show with shirts and a contribution towards their accommodation.
It was also decided to provide the GIHS Dance Team with School Dance Group jackets to complement their dance uniforms that they purchase individually.
In the meeting, the committee members spent some time planning with the Principal, Mr Forrester, and Deputy, Mrs Millar, on funding options for the new cricket nets for the school and complementing the upgrades on the Old Hall into a Performance Centre. The P&C plan on contributing to the Performance Centre with new curtains, performance lighting and a Baby Grand Piano. In collaboration with community organisations, we are applying for grants with Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund and White Rock Farm Community Fund to assist with the projects. We hope to hear if we are successful in these applications soon.
Our next P&C meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 2nd May at 6 pm at the GIHS Staffroom – we welcome any interested parent/carer or member of the community to these meetings.
Fundraiser
An old set of piano keys had been very generously mounted by the Glen Innes Shed. Each of the 84 keys is to be silently auctioned. The winners' names will be engraved on the corresponding key and will be mounted on the wall near the piano in the Performance Centre on completion. If you have an interest in supporting the fundraising by bidding on a key for the Grand Piano, please email: gleninneshighschool@pandcaffiliate.org.au. The GIHS P&C welcome parents/carers or interested community members to contribute to our public High School.
