Independence Centre

Curriculum

We’ve had a great week in the Independence Centre this week! These are the highlights for 3/4C.

In Reading we have been reading different persuasive texts and learning about techniques authors use to share their point of view.

In Writing we have been learning how to write a persuasive text. We have made sure to use our Ollie openers such as firstly, secondly, and thirdly! We started by creating a mind map about what matters to us. Some ideas are food, family and sport. We thought of some reasons to convince the reader and also researched some facts to support our reasons. We will keep working through the writing process during next week.

In Maths we have been using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve number charts with missing numbers. We used our problem-solving and perseverance skills to complete the charts.

In Guided Inquiry we have been learning about Sustainability. We did rotations and learnt about poverty, zero hunger, water quality, land vs. sea and sustainable cities. After that we did a survey for which topic we want to learn about for the rest of term.

In P.E we have been practising cross-country around the oval and the school. We are going to run about 2 kilometres and we can’t wait to do Cross Country today!!

Have a wonderful week,

3/4W, Miss Wang, Miss Honan, Miss Chooi, Miss Walker, Miss Tillotson, and Mrs. Baker

Reminders

  • Scholastic Book Fair is starting this Thursday 18th May. After browsing the range on offer, students can bring home a wishlist for purchases to be made online.
  • We would greatly appreciate each student bringing in a tissue box into school as we move into the winter months.
  • Open Afternoon will be held on Monday 22nd May after assembly at 3:30pm. This will be a wonderful opportunity for your child to show you their work in the classroom.
