Therapy Dogs

Welcome to Maisie, Murrumbeena Primary School's Therapy Dog

I am so excited to announce that we have our very own therapy dog at Murrumbeena Primary School. Her name is Maisie and she is a 3-year-old toy cavoodle and she is gorgeous.

After successfully receiving a grant through Student Focused Youth Services, Maisie completed the 3-day intensive training at Benalla with K9 Therapy Dogs. I cannot tell you how delighted that Maisie (and I) passed!

Maisie has had her first visit to school last Friday. She was very happy to be at MPS, but was a little overwhelmed with all of the new sounds and smells. I will bring her in again one day this week to continue to get her accustomed to her new surroundings.

You can follow Maisie on Instagram and watch her journey at MPS. maisie.mps.therapydog

Information about Therapy dogs

Therapy animals provide affection and comfort to various members of the public, typically in facility settings such as hospitals, retirement homes, and schools. These pets have a special aptitude for interacting with members of the public and enjoy doing so. Therapy animals’ owners volunteer their time to visit with their animal in the community.
