Project Compassion 2023

Project Compassion runs across the six weeks of Lent each year and brings thousands of Australian schools, parishes and supporters together to raise funds for people living in some of the most vulnerable communities across the world.

St Mary’s College fundraising for Project Compassion during Lent was a huge success.

Houses decided upon a series of activities for students to participate in, to contribute valuable funds for the work of CARITAS.

McAuley ran an Easter Raffle which involved students selling raffle tickets and providing easter eggs for over 17 prizes.

Mercy sold pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and made spiders and shakes to sell at recess and lunch times.

Lourdes held a Pizza day and Loreto invited those with money to donate, the opportunity to target our volunteer student leaders and House Leader Miss Brooks with water balloons.

The total raised was $3779.55, which was a fantastic effort. We have raised enough money to train a group of women and men in Internal Savings and Lending to sustain themselves in Zimbabwe; provide tree planting and gardening around school premises in Nepal; assist with the fortnightly pay-packet of a part-time youth worker in Australia; provide specialised rehabilitation devices for people living with disabilities in Vietnam and buy chickens for families to have eggs, chickens and a possible source of income.

Your generous support will help change lives today - and For All Future Generations.  A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone in the St Mary’s community for your generous support of our Project Compassion fundraising for 2023.
