Around the Grounds - Amenity Upgrade

Student Amenities Upgrade

Good morning. Our student amenities have, over recent years, fallen short of serving their purpose and have become an area identified as unsafe by our student cohort. To this end, I have sought design and engineering advice through Armidale Catholic Schools and called for tenders with the intent to upgrade our amenities. This went to tender early March, and was submitted to the Bishop for approval in the first week of April. It was approved immediately and the contractor would start immediately. This has gone to plan and the demolition began last week.

This is a big project and we certainly were not expecting the approval or work to happen so quickly. This is great news for our community. The suggested duration of the work is that the boys amenities will be available by end of week 6 and the girls amenities will fully up and running by next term.

The staff amenities will be upgraded after the student amenities are completed.

At this time, while the boys amenities are being done, the logistics are:

Boys are to use what were the girls' amenities on the ground level.Girls are to use the upstairs amenities, and all of the Dignam amenities. Senior girls only to use the carpark side facilities.

Then, when the boys amenities are completed, and the work begins on the girls amenities, the logistics are:

Boys are to return to using their renovated amenities ONLY.Girls are to continue to use the upstairs amenities, and all of the Dignam amenities as indicated above.

Finally, when the girls’ amenities are complete, and the work begins on the staff amenities, the logistics are:

Boys are to return to using their renovated amenities ONLY.Girls are to return to their renovated amenities ONLY.

Upstairs amenities and Dignam amenities are for staff use ONLY.

This will be a challenge for us for the short term, but long term this will make our students safer and more confident using their facilities.

Please communicate with your child the logistics to assist them with starting the day before PACC.
