Principal's Report

Flexible. Resilient. Positive. 2023

What a fabulous start to Term 2 we have had! The Level 3 - 6 Athletics Carnival was a huge success thanks to the tireless work and high level organisation of Mitch Clark and Meg Hubbard. A massive thank you to all of the parent volunteers who assisted on the day and the staff from across the school who stepped up in whatever event they were allocated to. The Whole School Cross Country Carnival was no less successful, with student participation and enthusiasm across all grades at incredibly high levels. Well done to Mitch and Meg and thank you both on behalf of the community.

This week we have had our Craft Power Incursion for Level 2, and Level 3 Netball Clinics. Our School Council has met and seen presentations from three Before and After School Care providers as we move through the tender process, our littlest learners have paraded in their Harry Hippopotamus Hats, and our whole school joined in on the Ice Pole and PJ day which was run by the Junior School Council.

Open Afternoon

This year Victoria will celebrate Education Week from Sunday 14 May to Saturday 20 May.

This year’s theme is ‘Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate’, which celebrates physical activity, hands-on learning and student voice in education.

We are thrilled to invite all of our current and prospective families to our Open Afternoon on Monday 15th May from 2:45pm. We will have classrooms open, specialist sessions running, student writing presentations in the Library for Authors Chair, and musical performances from 4:30 in the gymnasium.

Come down to Rangeview and see us in action!

Before and After School Care Survey

Thank you to all of the 76 families who responded to our Before and  After School Care Survey. The information is being taken into consideration by our school Leadership Team and the School Council as we move through the tender process for our Before and After School Care provider.

Families responded with clear feedback around the activities that their children prefer in before and after school care - arts and crafts, sports and games, homework club, outside play, coding and cooking.

Families also responded to what was most important to them in a service;

The School Council heard from three excellent providers - OSH Club, Team Kids and Their Care - on Wednesday night, and all three outlined strengths and benefits of their company.

We will communicate the school's decision around our service provider as soon as it is finalised. No changes will be made until the end of term.

Parents & Friends Committee

Our wonderful Parents & Friends Committee is meeting on the first Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the school staffroom. New members are always welcome. The committee is being led this year by Rebecca Peers and Laura Warren. The treasurer is Angela Jones and the secretary is Michael Hadjion.

Our P&F Committee organise a number of wonderful events and fundraisers throughout the year and will reach out to a different year level for volunteers to assist with each event.

  • Grade 1 - cupcake day (completed)
  • Grade 2- lunch days (Term 2)
  • Grade 3/4 - kids disco (Term 3)
  • Grade 5/6- Mother’s Day stall (Term 2) & Father's Day Stall (Term 3)

We still need some more volunteers to assist with the Mother's Day stall - please sign up here;

Reading Heroes

Last Term one of our wonderful Grade 3 students brought an idea to the Principal. She spoke positively about the success of Run Club, and then pointed out that some kids like to read. Perhaps we could celebrate reading as well?

We have decided to launch Rangeview's Reading Heroes. Students will be awarded certificates for reading and there will be a Reading Club in the Level 2 Hub at Lunchtimes.

Pupil Free Day

Rangeview will be having our Curriculum (Pupil Free) Day on Friday 2nd June. Our OSH Club will be providing care on this day for any families that require it.

Pick up and Drop Off

Please be mindful of our neighbours when you are picking up and dropping off your child for school. It is not appropriate to park across neighbour's driveways as it blocks access to their homes or access to leave their homes for appointments.

If you are collecting your child for an appointment during the school day, you must come to the front office to sign them out first.

Please also do not walk through the car park when you are collecting your child. We are all trying to support the students to remember to use the footpaths for safety.
