INTRODUCING OUR 2023 GERMAN LANGUAGE ASSISTANT,

JOSEFINE SCHNEIDER

Hallo zusammen (Hello everyone) students/parents/teachers)!

I’m Josefine Schneider (she/her) and I’m from Munich, Germany. It’s a bigger town in the south of Germany and well known for its football team FC Bayern München and the Oktoberfest.

I wanted to say ‘Hi’ to everyone and introduce myself, as I’m going to be the new German language assistant at Rangeview Primary School and Mullauna Secondary College for the rest of the school year.

On Wednesday I’ll be in every German class with Frau Helga Shaw and every Thursday I’ll be in the German classes with Frau Ulrike Lindner.

If you/your child want/wants help concerning the German vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and German culture or you/your child just want/s someone to talk to in a small group and improve your/its German speaking skills, I’m here for you/your child.

At university in Germany, I studied Biology, English and Geography. I also studied in London (UK) for a year and realised how much fun it is and how good it is to really get to know a culture. So, I’m also here in Australia to learn more about the country, its people and the language to bring all this information back home.

As I’m going to be an English teacher back home in Germany, I’m also here to learn more about the country, its people and the language to bring all this information back home to teach my future English classes. So, students: feel free to tell me a few things you think children in Germany should learn/know about Australia as well!

I like swimming, skiing, try my best to become better in surfing and I actually like going to museums and galleries and meeting friends.

I’m so happy that I get the chance to work here at Rangeview and to help you/your child to learn German.

Have a wonderful week and see you around!

Ganz liebe Grüße (Best wishes),

Josefine Schneider

DID YOU KNOW?

By our German Captain, Flynn

One third of Germany is covered with woodlands and forests. Germany ranks among the densely wooded countries in Europe. Around 11,4 million hectares corresponding to one third of the national territory are covered with forests.

65% of highways in Germany or ‘Autobahn’ as they call it have no speed limit, but a recommended speed of 130.

In Germany, all public higher education institutions are free, even the highest ranked universities in the country! Unlike other countries that charge crazy tuition fees due to the high demand of students who wish to attend them, the top-ranked German universities charge the same tuition price as the rest: nothing.

Should you have any queries about how to best support your child’s German language development, we would love to hear from you.
