Assessments

At the start of the term, Class staff spent time developing some protocols around assessments and what we expect to see in our classrooms.

  • A respectful and quiet working space.
  • If assistance is required, raise your hand and wait patiently for a staff member.
  • Desks empty except for testing materials e.g. calculators, pens, highlighters.
  • Students spaced out with physical barriers if required.
  • Times of assessment on board – start time, 10 minutes intervals, end time.
  • Staff may read questions aloud to a student but may not elaborate/refine/explain.
  • Check answers thoroughly.
  • Hand in papers prior to accessing any other materials.
  • Sit quietly until the end of allocated test time so as to not disturb others still working.

Externally Set Tasks

Externally Set Tasks (ESTs) are administered to all students across the state in Year 12 as a moderation tool and comprise 15% of a student's final grade. This year, all ESTs will be held in the Rec Centre with all students taking the assessment at the same time rather than during their scheduled class time.

ATAR Exams - Year 11 and 12

At the end of our last exam period we sought feedback from our students regarding the structure of the exam week.  It was requested that we split the exams in two to allow for a study break, rather than conduct them across four successive days.

Students are not required to wear uniforms for the exams and may return to their rooms for private study at the conclusion of each exam.  Class staff will be available for revision sessions in the library each afternoon.

Year 12 ATAR Camp 2023

In Week 10 last term the Year 12 ATAR Students, along with Miss Smith and Miss Sharpe went on their annual trip to Perth to tour universities and industries to learn about post-schooling pathways. The students were a delight to take and represented themselves brilliantly at Murdoch, CBH grain terminal, the State Library of WA, Muresk University and the CSBP testing laboratory.
