 Music Update

Between practising our Mother’s Day songs, learning to read music and exploring the glockenspiels we have had a huge start to Term Two down in the Music room!

We had a lovely time learning the song’s for our performance at Tuesday’s Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea. If you were able to make the afternoon I hope you enjoyed the songs as much as we did learning them.

We’ve taken the big step and begun learning to read music and play the glockenspiels. Each lesson we’ve been playing 3-letter words on our glockenspiels to get the feel of our instruments before tackling an old classic ‘Hot Cross Buns’. The children take turns playing and singing their glockenspiels in time with each other.

The music we’ve been reading has the notes written on it and are the corresponding colours to the glockenspiel bars. As the weeks progress we will look to read ‘tricky’ music without the help of letters/colours.

Over the next fortnight the children will continue to read and play music with different warm ups each lesson to help build their fluency. The beautiful steel drums will be introduced to classes to play and hopefully we will be able to have another few assembly performances to showcase our hard work!

STEAM

Check out the Grade 5 and 6 STEAM excursion to the Moorabbin Airport Museum for Project Magnify. The kids were a credit to all of their parents and a wonderful fun day was had by all! Thankyou to Ardoch for making this experience possible for our students.
