Hello 4A and 4B families,

 

A huge well done to the students for their Mother's Day performance. Despite there being some technology issues, they sung their hearts out and displayed great resilience! 

 

 

The Next Fortnight of Learning 

Literacy

Over the next two weeks we will be working on:

  • Continuing to practise the role of the connector, word wizard and literary luminary in our Book Clubs groups.
  • Our vocabulary words are strewn, sludge, debris, pollution and degradation.
  • Exploring key features in an information text.
  • Effective ways to take notes.
  • Converting notes into strong paragraphs.
  • Creating a non fiction topic seed for our Writer's Notebook.

Maths

Over the next two weeks we will be working on:

  • Ordering least likely to most likely events.
  • Independent and dependent events.
  • Different types of maps and how to follow directions. 
  • The purpose of a compass rose, scale, legend and symbols.
  • Math mystery
  • Number talks  

Inquiry

This term students will identify connections between themselves and other people, places and environments in their lives. They will be able to locate Australia's neighbouring countries and be able to contribute to conversations about what life may be life in these places. Students will build on their understanding of the geography of Australia and its position in the world, as they navigate information technology and cartographic tools and resources.

 

Wellbeing

Over the next two weeks students will be practising:

  • Identifying communication skills that enhance peer support and help-seeking.
  • Identifying a range of conflict resolution and help-seeking strategies to negotiate positive outcomes to problems.
  • Discussing the concept of leadership and identifying situations where it is appropriate to adopt this role.
  • Describing and applying strategies that can be used in situations that make them uncomfortable or unsafe.

 

Reminders

  • Remember to read for a minimum of 20 minutes each day.
  • To borrow library books students need a library bag - this can be satchel, pillow case, tote bag etc.

A Celebration of Learning 

Last Friday the Grade 4 students completed our school Cross Country. They did an AMAZING effort and it was great to see the house colours in spirit.
