Deputy Principal, Teaching and Learning

“Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.”

— Chinese Proverb

As we start Term Two, I want to remind parents of the importance of supporting your child's learning and preparation for upcoming Mid-Year Examinations in Week 7. With your help and guidance, your child can achieve academic success and reach their full potential.

It is important to create a positive learning environment at home. This can involve setting aside a designated study space and time each day, ensuring your child has access to necessary materials and resources, and minimizing distractions such as television or phone usage during study time. By creating a routine and a space conducive to learning, you can help your child stay focused and motivated.

As a parent, you can also play an active role in helping your child prepare for exams. Encourage them to review their notes and study materials regularly. At College, students learn about effective study strategies, such as creating flashcards, using mnemonic devices, or practicing past exam questions. For additional ideas to aid study, students and parents are encouraged to contact the mentor.

It is important to keep in mind that academic success is not solely determined by exam performance. Encourage your child to focus on their overall growth and development, rather than just their grades. Reading the end of term report, reviewing, and acting on the next steps feedback provided by subject teachers are all important steps.

Finally, celebrate success, no matter how small, and provide support and guidance as they navigate challenges. Positive words of affirmation are vital.  Supporting your child's learning and exam preparation requires a collaborative effort between parents, students, and teachers. By working together, we can ensure that your child reaches their full potential and achieves academic success.
