Dis-Moi Dix Mots Winners!

Bravo students of Glen Eira College!!

I am delighted to tell you that our students have won a most amazing award.  Students in the Year 9 Immersion class, Year 7 CNED and a Year 10 student submitted a project on the '10 words of the Francophonie' and won 1st prize in the Dis-Moi Dix Mots Annual International competition organised by the French Ministry of Education in partnership with the French Ministry of Culture and Foreign Affairs.

The students worked on the ‘10 words’ in class with their teacher Loveena Narayanen. Then, they interpreted the words in their own way and brainstormed ideas on how they could represent the words using the theme ‘LA TOILE’ which means ‘the web’. One of the instructions by Loveena was for students to ‘let your imagination travel to different horizons’.

The students' creations were amazing and Camille Lancelin, our intern from Telecom Lille, helped students to create a website which hosted all the projects.

800 projects were submitted internationally and GEC came first in the category ‘Etablissements à l’Etranger’: Overseas schools! We have been invited to attend the prize giving ceremony at the prestigious Academie Francaise in Paris on the 18th May with 2 students paid for by the Acadamie.  GET Tours are also sponsoring a student to attend which is great news.

Attending with Loveena and myself are:

Tiphaine Chevalier Freyeisen

Tahlia Delaney-Murnane

Leah Sandow

Students  completed expressions of interest - it was a difficult decision for the panel which included Ruth Gordon our School Council President, as all applications were of a high quality.
