Semaine de la Francophonie
Discovering French culture during Francophonie week
From 18th March to 26th March, Francophonie week took place at Glen Eira College. This week celebrates and promotes French culture through several activities: for instance, a sale of French cakes was organized during recess, students could play pétanque during lunchbreak, and students sang the French National anthem, “La Marseillaise”.
All these activities allowed students to understand French culture and learn more about the Francophonie, all in a playful way.

Japanese Activities
Since the introduction of Japanese in 2016, students have enjoyed participating in a variety of Japanese cultural activities as well as learning the Japanese language. During Harmony Week, a number of students across the school participated in our Japanese Just Dance Competition where we made Harajuku style fashion accessories and danced to Japanese pop music.
Japanese culture continues to spread at Glen Eira College and students around the school are invited to join the Japanese Club every Wednesday lunchtime where we will learn Japanese crafts such as origami and manga drawing and different aspects of Japanese culture.

Hebrew Activities
Year 9 students have successfully completed their food unit where they had fun making sweet treats. They were assessed on their creative role play restaurants where they have designed a menu and a sign for their restaurant in groups. Their restaurants ranged from juice bar to a silver service restaurant. Some students included real food and drinks as props. It was a fun unit! This term, students are busy designing and describing a school in relation to use of colours and shapes. It's early days, but from what I have seen so far, some are quite creative!
