Director of Mission

Firstly, a warm welcome back to all our students. It has been a delight to see everyone buzzing around the college again full of excitement and energy.

This year I have been fortunate to start a new role as Director of Mission. This is an addition to the leadership team that will support and grow the foundation of Mission and service through the College vision statement. Across the CSO Wagga Wagga diocese there are currently five Directors of Mission and the position, at the various locations, has made some outstanding progress to their faith formation and wellbeing of students. I am hoping to do the same here at Marian Catholic College.

This first year holds some exciting prospects but it will be a year of formation for the role itself. The bishops of Australia have declared this year the ‘Year of Youth’ and the theme for our founding Marist Brothers is ‘Hope and Future’. I will endeavour to embed these mottos throughout the culture of the school this year.

In doing this I will be continuing to build on the relationships with our founding orders, this being the Marist Brothers and Mercy Sisters. This will result in further opportunities for students like our successful Australian Catholic Youth Festival that a large number of our students participated in last year.

So once again welcome back and have a great weekend. If you would like to suggest any ideas on how you feel our faith formation at the College can continue to strongly grow in mission and service please do not hesitate to contact me through the office or on nevilleh@ww.catholic.edu.au.

Heath Neville

Director of Mission

Marian Catholic College and the Year of YOUTH

The Australian Bishops have identified the liturgical year of 2018, beginning on the first Sunday of Advent (3rd December 2017), as a National Year of Youth.

In order to celebrate this for our young people and to localise the Bishops’ call, the CSO will be running an Art Competition for all secondary students.

The winning design will have their artwork commissioned to all schools within the Wagga Wagga Diocese as promotional banners and posters for the Year of Youth. The winning entry will receive a major prize; a pair of the new Bose SoundSport Free wireless headphones ($299.95). The two runner up entries will receive the prize of their choice between a $50.00 voucher at JB Hi-Fi or EB Games.

If you would like any help with this competition, please come and see Mr Neville in L1 next week. This is a great opportunity so good luck!
