Careers News
Year 12
Permission notes for the University of Newcastle Schools Visit Day on 3 July are now available. Both notes and money are due to the College by Wednesday 25 June. Students are also required to register with the University and use the planner to organise the tours and lectures they wish to attend.
There was a talk at recess on Friday 14 June to discuss early entry programs and answer questions from Year 12 students.
Year 11
Recently Year 11 completed a Senior Careers Survey form which will be used throughout Year 11 and 12 to assist students in finding the resources they need to assist them in the transition from school to further study or employment.
There is a program available to assist any Year 11 student who does not wish to sit the HSC but would prefer to leave school and seek employment, I will be talking to Year 11 students to see if any of our students wish to be involved or find out more information.
Year 10
UAC has provided information on their website to assist Year 10 students and their parents when it comes to subject selection. This was on the McCarthy Careers Facebook page earlier this week and was emailed to all students.
Students who are not intending to apply to university are advised to choose subjects that they are interested in, including non-ATAR subjects or EVET subjects that are more practical or suited to their career aspirations.
There are booklets from UAC, various universities and further sheets that will be distributed to students later on this term and next term.
Tamworth TAFE - “Taste of TAFE”
Recently I attended a presentation at Tamworth TAFE for local Careers Advisers and there is an event coming up at TAFE on 26 June. This is called “Taste of TAFE” and we will be taking interested students from Years 10, 11 and 12.
