Work Experience 2020 :  9th to 12th June 2020

Current Year 9 students should be busy arranging their work experience placements for 2020.  The dates for our program will run from Tuesday 9th to Friday 12th June 2020.  Monday 8th June is the Queen’s Bday public holiday though if employers are open students are welcome to work this day too.  Work Experience Arrangement forms are available on the Careers tab of Schoolbox.  Please see your campus Careers Coordinator for any assistance.

Work Experience with BOM ( Bureau of Meteorology)

BOM offers a limited number of work experience placements for secondary school students interested in exploring the Bureau of Meteorology.

As Australia’s national weather, climate, ocean and water agency, we offer students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in our core weather and science services.

Our work experience program aims to give opportunities to:

  • Gain insight and experience into Bureau’s everyday work, providing reliable and responsive weather, climate and ocean services for Australia
  • Enquire about the type of work being undertaken at Bureau of Meteorology
  • Demonstrate the wide variety of interesting careers available within the Bureau of Meteorology; especially STEM disciplines
  • Gain essential work experience and/or skills
  • Explore your interests
  • Align school studies with career aspirations

RMIT | Experience Surveying Day

26 November 2019, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

If you are interested in a career as a land surveyor, this practical one-hour event hosted by RMIT University provides a fantastic opportunity for you to do practical surveying activities with the help of fully qualified Surveyors.

You will see all the current surveying equipment used in the industry including a digital level, total station, GPS and laser scanner. You’ll get the opportunity to do a practical activity measuring distance and use professional surveying tools to check your measurement.

Events are held each month at Argyle Square and are designed for Year 10 – 12 secondary students and school leavers that are interested in mathematics and IT or those considering a career change to the industry.

You’ll also get the chance to meet with staff who teach surveying at RMIT, and ask any questions you have about a future career in land surveying as well as the study options available at RMIT.

Whitehouse Institute of Design | Fashion Illustration Workshop (Costs $660)

The Fashion Illustration Workshop will explore drawing techniques fundamental for budding fashion designers. This workshop is available in a single five day block, in which you will gain an understanding of the fashion figure on paper, experiment with different materials and learn techniques for presenting your creative ideas.

The five day workshop is a recommended starting point for those wishing to develop their illustration skills in the fundamental areas of fashion illustration.

No drawing experience is necessary to undertake this program. The workshop is aimed at those wishing to develop their drawing skills and compile a portfolio required to successfully continue studies in fashion.
