SMArt n Drama Night

What an amazing night!

On Wednesday 18th September 2019 our school produced our annual SMArt & Drama Night performances and WOW, what a display from our students!

We started the day with a dress rehearsal for members of St Joseph's School, The Bee Centre and Burrowa House and while there were a lot of kinks to iron out, the kids put in a fantastic effort for their first run through.

The hall was looking fantastic thanks to the huge number of artworks on display from across K-12.

The evening performance was something to behold! We had over 135 students perform music, dance and drama items, most of which were written/selected/created by the students themselves and their teachers. Our K-6 class drama performances were once again a hit with plenty of laughs and cheers coming from the crowd. From western shoot-outs to dog dances, from prison breaks to a country ambush, our youngest performers surely know how to entertain! There wasn't a dry eye in the house at the end of Year 1's 'When I Grow Up' from Matilda.

Thanks to the brilliant music staff at Young High School we were able to borrow and set up a secondary stage for our musical performances which made things run very smoothly and we are very appreciative of their support. Musical instruments played throughout the night included: acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, vocals, keyboards, drums, stomp box, African djembes, shakers, triangles, cymbals, piano, guiro, woodblocks, glockenspiels and xylophones. Many of the guitars are new and are thanks to the generous donations of the P&C this year. Music is alive and well at BCS with most students playing instruments for an audience for the first time.

Our MC's Mackella, Fleur and Jasmine kept us chuckling throughout the night and ensured that everyone knew what was happening.  A difficult thing to do with over 20 acts performing!

All in all it was a fantastic evening of celebrating creative arts here at BCS. Thank you to all of our fantastic staff for their extra effort, support and assistance for SMArt and Drama Night this year.  It really could not happen without you.

See you all for a bigger and better night next year!
