Yr 12 Final Week

On behalf of the year 12 cohort, we would like to thank the wider school community for your continuous support throughout our years of schooling. For our last week, our school participated in a series of ‘muck up’ days, a rare tradition held by a limited number of schools across the state. The term ‘muck up’ refers to individuals dressing up in different attire for each day of the week. Monday’s theme was first letter of your name, Tuesday was celebrities, Wednesday was our pyjamas and Thursday was gender bender.

On Wednesday, we had our Graduation ceremony which was attended by peers, staff, our families and friends. We received our Portfolios, which contained our reports, subject awards, a letter from our mentors, a copy of our graduation video and a school pen.

Our activities afternoon involved years five to eleven participating in a number of interactive games. These included a Kahoot quiz based on us, Onion Tears - staff ate a whole onion in a minute, Sour Lemons - kids ate an entire lemon, Mystery Touch - children were blindfolded and had to touch an object or food and guess what it was, and Guess the Food - children were blindfolded and had to guess what food they ate. Well done to the Legend Ants team who won the most amount of games!

The social on Wednesday night was a huge success. We dressed in 70s theme, while the rest of the school came as any character they wished. We ran a series of games including Knights/Horses/Cavaliers, Spin the Bottle, Musical Partners and Limbo. Best dressed went to Josh Demont as Jack Sparrow and Miss Moorby as a giant inflatable dinosaur. Highly commended went to the Pink Ladies and Forrest Gump. The best catwalk walkers were Brendan Welch, Leah Cutting, Marnie Halls and Jemma Fuery. Thank you to all the staff who supervised and for all the students who supported our event!

We will miss you all,

Year 12 cohort

Henty Field Days

Last week the students of Stage 5 STEM and Agriculture and Stage 6 Primary Industries travelled down the Hume to Henty to check out the latest innovations in the Agriculture industry.  The STEM class were given the task of finding inventors that had used the design process to create an invention or innovative practice. The students met some great people with some outstanding ideas and found some great tips in creating their project they are currently working on. Some inventions seen were a cradle for lifting ewe's onto the back of the ute, a spraying drone that has Infrared cameras to pick out weeds and spot spray them and many many more.

The Agriculture and Stage 6 Primary Industries class were given the job to investigate some of the new practices in Ag and ways to make being a farmer safer, more efficient and better for the environment.

It was a great day and the students had a great day checking out all the latest technology in Agriculture.

Yr 11 Visual Design Skatedecks

Year 11 Visual Design have been studying and creating skateboard art this term. They have looked at the history of the skateboard and it's culture. On their own blank skatedecks they have created a design to suit their chosen theme, and some students opted to make their skatedeck into a clock. Most students completed their designs in acrylic paints, and gold and black markers.

9/10 Street Art Canvasses

9/10 Visual Arts have been making and studying Street and Graffiti Art and artists, such as Banksy and Arthur Stace.  They have created their street art canvasses using both acrylic, watercolour, spraypaint and texta. They have cut their own stencils for use on the canvas.

The results are very bright and eye-catching!!

7/8 Aboriginal Art Lino Print Collages

Year 7/8 Art have been designing, cutting and printing Aboriginal Art inspired lino prints this term. They have looked at Australian Aboriginal artists such as Rover Thomas and Ginger Riley Munduwalawala. Their lino prints illustrate a journey the students take, using traditional Aboriginal signs and symbols.  After the students completed the printing process they collaged two of their prints together using geometric patterns.
