Parish - Resurrection Keysborough

Past Student or Parent - Past Student -1975, Parent - Elisabeth (Liz) 2001 and Karl 2007.

What/who do you represent on the Board - I was asked to join as the Honorary Accountant to the Board and a member as the Finance Committee in 2016.  Since then I have taken on the role of Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Finance Committee. I also participate as an Alumni representative.

Why did you elect to join the Board? - I was approached by Fr Brian Collins - a hard man to say no to. The school had been a great place to be a part of after I moved from Moorabbin Tech.  Met great friends I am  still in touch with. A chance to give back what was given to me and my children in opportunities and great education.

What does being a board member mean to you? Just to assist and advise in the areas that we have the skills to support Tim and the staff. Also to reflect on the community the school has now and what it was.

The best things you remember during your time on the Board? There has certainly been some huge ups and downs in a rollercoaster of a time since 2016.  Working with the staff and other Board members and the interaction we have had over  that time - Working with Tim and Nic and doing the best we can in our roles. But the launch of the Masterplan and work around that, the redoing of the Constitution last year in line with an Advisory Board, seeing the Solar Panel project get completed. Seeing  the School productions and attending the Debutante balls and dinners with staff have always been a wonderful time.

What do you hope to bring to the Board as a representative going forward? Continue to work with the management on the Masterplan.. recruit more Board and Finance members to the School - love to get more past students and parents involved to give back and appreciate the hard work that goes on behind and in running the school.

Hobbies or Skills - St Kilda Football Club, Golf, Caravanning, Guitar - Acoustic , Alpine Hiking, Kayaking, Mustang 1968.

Any other interesting things you wish to share?

  • Completed Australian Alpine Trail hike from Wahalla to Canberra a distance of 660 km over a few years in sections.
  • -Interestingly that the Stage 1 Masterplan  brought the Administration back to where it was when I was here back in 1975 - second level A Block!
  •  - Being able to assist in the Mock interview with year 10 students. Always interesting to hear their aspirations and to give them some guidance as they choose their careers.. fact  vs fiction.
  •   - Working with other past students on the Alumni group and trying to build a network that can give back  or participate in the Alumni whether by supporting with their skills or professions. To show current students what is really out there for opportunities as they plan their careers.
