Parents & Friends

It's a while since the P and F has had anything newsworthy to report in this current climate but we are still here, quietly home schooling away and quietly hoping a few state borders might open before school holidays!

Unfortunately I think that ship has sailed so we move on and look forward instead to Spring just around the corner and the promise of warm weather for outdoor PE sessions. It has been an incredibly long and daunting year for teaching staff , parents and all our children but I can't help but feel so proud and impressed at how everyone has taken it in their stride, showed incredible fortitude and risen to the occasion. The resilience shown by Year 12 students in what should be a last year full of great memories and experiences, to keep going and striving when faced with uncertainty and adversity, is momentous. To be human is to have the ability to adapt and we have all adapted this year and should feel proud . As one home schooling meme I saw said " I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm doing it very very well"....

The P and F will not unfortunately, be selling Christmas Cakes this year which is disappointing given the number of people who have already asked about them and said what a wonderful cake they are. It was inevitable though, given social distancing rules and government recommendations that this could not happen in 2020. We may not have recognised each other anyway in hairnets and masks! We have also postponed our Open Garden Day planned for October, until next year. On a brighter note , the recipe book "More Food for Friends'" is nearing completion and will be released in time for Christmas. We are tremendously excited about how fabulous this looks and can't wait to show you all. There have already been lots of pre orders so if you would like to secure your copy and have it posted to you as soon as they arrive please DM us on Instagram at  hamilton_college_pf  or send us an email at P&F@hamiltoncolleg .vic.edu .au.

I am sure that 2021 will be a better year and we can resume our activities.

Finally, to quote my favourite statesman and orator Winston Churchill, who went through a few tumultuous years of his own, " When you are going through hell, keep going".. Stay well, stay strong and best wishes for the rest of Term 3 from the P and F.

Kind regards,
