Associate Principal, Operations Report

Early this week I was saddened to learn of the death of Jim Howie.  Jim was a former Principal of Hamilton High School and I knew him through the Uniting Church and some musical groups.  After his retirement, Jim became our VCE Examination Supervisor for a number of years and his experience and organisation made him an excellent person in this role prior to his departure from Hamilton in the 1990s.  He looked after our VCE candidates very well, enjoying a continuation of his work with young people.

Monday pupil-free day

Last week, all school families should have received advice from the Principal that we have adjusted the date of our Staff PL day from the start of Term Four.  This day will now be next Monday, 31 August.  There will be no classes next Monday which hopefully will allow students a day’s break from their screens.  Teachers will use the day for planning and report preparation.

In turn, Monday 5 October will become a teaching day rather than the previously advised PL Day.  Term Four will, therefore, commence on the 5th rather than the 6th  October.
