Wellbeing Report

As the term comes to an end, the Wellbeing and Pastoral teams would like to express our thanks to you for the ongoing support you have shown. There have been many ups and downs, many challenges to overcome, and many different emotions to contend with, testing our resilience and sense of stability.
We sincerely hope and pray that these coming holidays can be a time to relax, slow down and regroup. It is important that our young people are able to take some time away from their screens and spend time enjoying the things they love to do. As the weather improves, encourage them to spend time outside in the sunshine, taking a walk, do some exercise, and socialise with friends in a Covid friendly manner. The City of Greater Dandenong has a great holiday program, which could provide some opportunities for engagement in enjoyable activities. See the flyer below.
Try to take the time to keep the lines of communication with your child open, to check in with them and how they are feeling. It is really important for them to feel a sense of hope in the future, which can help to manage stress and anxiety and cope with adversity. It contributes to our wellbeing and happiness and motivates positive action. If you do have concerns, please act on these by being open to listening, validate the feelings being expressed, and seek support from professionals, such as your GP, Headspace, Kidshelpline, Lifeline and Beyondblue, most of who have fantastic online resources for you to access as well.
We are also mindful that this is a really important time for our Year 12 students, and that they may be really feeling the pressure and anxiety that comes with Year 12 studies, exacerbated by remote learning. There are some useful resources on our SchoolTV website to help you to assist them, including:
- Riding the Corona Coaster
- Surviving the Final Year
- Wellbeing checklist for Secondary
You can also find a list of great wellbeing apps that students love to use on the attached document.
Have a restful, relaxing and rejuvenating break.
