Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Guardians
It is with great pleasure that I announce that Mr Justin Duckett and Ms Claire Nailon are Nazareth College’s Deputy Principals for the next four years.
Justin will take charge of Students and Staff, and Claire will lead Teaching and Learning. They both have been long serving members of staff and have held numerous Leadership roles at Nazareth College.
This year, Justin has been the Acting Deputy Principal whilst Mr Garry Giese remains on sick leave. Justin has juggled the Faith and Mission together with the student and staff portfolio. Claire has been the Director of Learning Innovation and will be elevated to the position of Deputy Principal – Teaching and Learning.
The College is fortunate to have these two outstanding teachers who are passionate about making Nazareth College an exemplary Catholic learning hub.
The Leadership Team will be made up of:
The Director roles will be finalised early next term after formal interviews have been conducted and appointments made.
Currently our staffing for 2021 is being organised and the College has advertised for some new staff in a number of faculties, due to some departures and completion of fixed term contracts. I look forward to updating the Community early next term once the staffing has been finalised.
At the end of this week, we farewell Mrs Geraldine Howson, the College Finance Manager, who has worked at Nazareth College for the past nineteen (19) years. We wish Geraldine the very best and thank her for her dedication, passion and thoroughness in ensuring that the College finances and staff salaries were all managed diligently and professionally.
On behalf of the Nazareth College Community, we thank Geraldine and wish her a fulfilling retirement full of health and enjoyment.
In concluding, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each individual family for their part in ensuring that each child’s remote educational program has continued seamlessly throughout the second lockdown. It has been challenging and a great deal longer than expected, however, from all reports, together we have all achieved great things. Congratulations to staff, students and families.
Enjoy the forthcoming school holidays and, hopefully, it will not be too long into next term before the College will be back in full operation.
Important dates for our families include:
- Students completing GAT return Wednesday 7 October
- From Post GAT - Unit 4 essential SACs
- From Week 2 Term 4 – VCE, VCAL and Year 10 VCE students return to school
- Mid October – Years 7 to 10 return
The final dates and arrangements will be made available to all students and families once these are confirmed.
In the meantime, enjoy the school holidays, stay safe and look after each other.
God bless
Mr Sam Cosentino
Principal
