Reflection

As we come to the end of the term it is time to take a few moments to stop and reflect. We have heard on many occasions that we are living in ‘unprecedented times’. We are aware there are many things we are not able to do and there are great restrictions being placed upon us like never before in recent history. We could take a lot of time to reflect on what we have missed out on, and how much we are looking forward to 2021 and when things go back to ‘normal’.
In our Catholic Tradition, we see God as Provident, loving, generous and merciful. All that we have, all that we are and all that we experience comes from God. The very gift of our life, each new day, our feelings, our ability to think, to move, to breathe, to imagine, to read, etc all come from God. The people we share our life with, those we care deepest about – they all come to us ultimately from the hands of God.
We live busy lives and it is important to take time to stop, reflect, pray and give thanks to God for who we are, what we have been blessed with and what we have been able to achieve, as it all comes from and goes back to God. Let us make time, as this term ends, to stop and think of what we have been blessed with, what is it that we can give thanks to God for.
If we stop and take time there are many things to give thanks for. Let us pause and take a moment to think of what it is that we can thank God for.
Psalm 100 says:
1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
3 Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
5 For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations
We ask the Holy Spirit to help us to be people of gratitude. People who know they are blessed by God and are truly grateful for what He has given to us.
