Captains Corner

Linh Nguyen and Sadhana George, 2020 Environment Captains

So far this year, we have looked at recycling practices during homeroom. Each homeroom being it’s own unique sanctuary; it was great to see that most homerooms had kept up with this during the on-campus period. With lockdown in place again, we understand the difficulties and stress this may put on a lot of us. However, there is always something positive to take from this time. It could be the beneficial impact on our environment, with local air and water qualities improving.

Quarantine can be seen as an opportunity for us to see things under a different light. While we still need to bear with this lock-down period for a little longer, we encourage you guys to take up small practices from home that can further help our environment, including switching off appliances when not in use at the wall and making use of natural light during the day. Whether it be following the right recycling practices, growing some plants in your backyard, or simply reducing the amount of electricity or water usage, all these actions will in some way make a positive impact.

We thank everyone who has helped in yard duty and recycling, and hope that by the end of this year we will have encouraged you guys to take steps to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle so as to become aware of our impact on the environment.

Stay well, stay safe & take care of our earth!
