Faith and Mission

Mr Tim Swan - Director Faith and Mission

Our Youth Minister, Jan Holewa, has been doing a tremendous job maintaining the sense of connection amongst our college community.  In particular, he has produced two episodes of SJRC Connect.  I asked Jan about this creative initiative, what it’s all about, and how it relates to his role as Youth Minister.

Jan: During COVID-19 we all lack connection. It is important to remember that God goes searching for us like a shepherd does to a lost sheep.  So, though we are isolated, we should have hope that God is fighting for us, trying to grow us in a closer relationship with him. How does this tie into this video segment?  Well, though we are isolated, God is there for us.  And as people it is always necessary to remember that!  Therefore, I created SJRC Connect to remember that though we are not connected physically, God is still with us.  Though, we are missing all the near occasions of God through our connection to the goodness of others, we can still experience them in part through witnessing what the school has been up to during lockdown, receiving a top-tip of the week to stay healthy, hearing an inspiring act of kindness, having some fun and hearing a prayer.  As such, these are the five segments that make up SJRC Connect!

Look out for Episode 3 of SJRC Connect next Thursday 17 September – you will feel the connection!

Prayer for those seeking a cure for the virus

Come, Holy Spirit, enlighten the

minds of women and men of medical

science who are working to find a

solution to this viral infection. Guide

their research and help them discover

what you provide in creation, sure ways

of control, protection, inoculation

and healing. Strengthen them in their

tiring work and enrich in them the

virtue of hope.

Amen.
