Performing Arts

Hi Newlands families!

The last fortnight has been quite theatrical in the media but jest not for we are very fortunate at Newlands to have many students who can express with great detail how to PERSIST and REFLECT!

The Foundation to Year 1 students have submitted the most diverse and creative array of audition tapes to a 'big time' director and taken many funny phone calls. Their ability to listen and respond using expression in their facial movements and voice has been well beyond their year levels.

The Year 2 and Year 3 students were exceptional at identifying how we persist in Performing Arts and they also reflected on their favourite lesson from Term 3. Many of the students gave kind feedback and there was an overwhelming amount of students that loved making sound effects and superhero stories over the radio waves as well as creating theatrical masks.

Year 4, 5 and 6 students have been auditioning also and showcased their talents in putting together an audition tape for a time travelling character. Props, costumes and many cool and crazy dance moves were uploaded. I was really impressed with their resilience to improvise with what they have at home and the interpretations of the 80's, 90's and 00's was insightful.
