SENIOR SCHOOL 2020 INTERHOUSE ATHLETICS CARNIVAL

On Thursday, 27 August, the Senior School students made the most of the sun-drenched day to exhibit immense amounts of athletic ability, courage, respect and support for each other at the 2020 Interhouse Athletics Carnival.

The day was full of energy and excitement with students competing against each other whilst always demonstrating excellent sportsmanship.

Congratulations to Forrest House for winning the event, and to all other Houses for their wonderful House Spirit, determination and teamwork.

We will look to announce and recognise the Champions and Runners Up of each category for the 2020 Interhouse Athletics Carnival at the upcoming Assembly in Week 9. Students and their parents will be notified.

A huge thank you to all the staff for their support and hard work at their stations on the day. A special thanks to the Grounds Team for their hard work behind the scenes and to the Heads of House and Tutors for looking after their athletes and teams so well. Thank you also to the Health and Physical Education department for their support in the set up and running of the day!

I extend my thanks to all parents and supporters on the day who were able to come along and to the Live Streaming Team who captured the day for those who could not make it. A big thank you also goes to the Friends of Sport Parent Volunteers for their help at the Sausage Sizzle.

I hope that the day created some wonderful memories for all. It was fantastic to come together as a College community.

BASKETBALL SCHOOL SPORT WA CANNING RIVER LEAGUE

On Thursday, 20 August, the College was represented by a group of Years 7, 8 and 9 students at the School Sport WA Canning River League Basketball One-Day Carnival at Willetton Basketball Stadium.

Both teams showcased outstanding talent and were able to develop their teamwork throughout the day. After some close games and excellent wins, both All Saints’ teams qualified to move into the next round of the competition, which will be held at Willetton Basketball Stadium on Saturday, 10 September. A special thank you to Mr Russ Haxby (Transition teacher) for coaching the boys team and Old Saint Taylah Ion (2019) for coaching the girls team on the day.

BASKETBALL ASSOCIATED AND CATHOLIC COLLEGES OF WA (ACC) CHAMPIONSHIP

After winning their ‘Round of 8’ match against Chisholm Catholic College, the Junior Girls Basketball team took on Helena College on Thursday, 27 August. Although the match was directly after in the ASC Interhouse Athletics Carnival, the girls showed no signs of tiring, working hard with fierce determination and courage and coming away with the ‘W’. This meant the team competed at the ACC Championships Grand Final on Tuesday, 1 September at Warwick Stadium. The team played against Georgiana Molloy Anglican School. While they were not able to sustain their lead, the girls played exceptionally. Thank you to Mr Russ Haxby for coaching and congratulations to the team for making it to the Grand Final!

The Senior Boys Basketball Team played in their ‘Round of 8’ match on Wednesday, 26 August against John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School. The ASC team, hit with a few late exclusions, fought hard all game but were not able to get over the line, in the end, going down by 10 points. This means that they are eliminated from the tournament, but they should be congratulated for making it to the Quarter Final stage. Well done boys!

PRE-CARNIVAL ATHLETICS MEET

On Wednesday, 19 August, All Saints’ took a squad of over 100 students from Years 7–10 to a Pre-Carnival Athletics Meet at the State Athletics Centre.

Students competed against the likes of Corpus Christi College, John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School and Peter Moyes Anglican Community School, who provided great competition on the day.

All students applied themselves well and gained invaluable experience from competing at the same venue as the ACC Athletics Carnival. A number of students also achieved Personal Bests on the day—an excellent result.

Student feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to continuing our involvement in this event in the future.

A huge thank you to Health and Physical Education Teachers Miss Tatjiana Pieris and Mr Oliver Beath, and Director of Health and Physical Education Miss Britt Gray, along with Old Saints Dayne Metzner and Austin Gardner (2019) for their tireless work on the day.

THE RUNNING CLUB

The Running Club has been seeing great numbers attending, despite many cold (and even some wet) mornings.

A reminder to students and parents/guardians, that training days for Term 3 are Tuesday and Friday mornings. We continue to provide breakfast for our runners after training. We encourage all of our regular runners to continue attending and welcome all new students to join. Whether your goal is to improve your running, keep physically active or even simply socialise with friends, the Running Club is for you!
