Matilda cast reveals!

We are excited to announce that Hobart actors, Jack Lark and Dan Pritchard will be supporting our cast in our upcoming production of Matilda. After a few months on the backburner, everyone was so happy to restart rehearsals recently.  Performances will be held in late February 2021 – watch this space for future announcements and more cast reveals!

Introducing...

Jack Lark

Jack is a musical theatre director and performer who graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2019 with a Bachelor of Musical Arts in Voice and Ensemble after training with Maria Lurighi. In 2018, Jack trained in Directing at the USC School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles, and has gone on to pursue a career in the theatre. He directed The Theory of Relativity (MTC, 2018) and Spring Awakening (Old Nick Co., 2019) alongside Finn Carter, and last year directed Naarah Barnes’ solo show: Isn’t It Peculiar (University of Tasmania, 2019). Jack has recently performed in 21 Chump Street (Old Nick Co.), Les Misérables (ExitLeft), My Fair Lady (Bijou Creative), As You Like It (Directions Theatre) and is beyond excited to be performing his dream role of Agatha Trunchbull.

Dan Pritchard

Graduating from Guilford Young College in 2016, Dan is passionate about storytelling and is grateful to be joining the cast of Matilda. Performing in local productions for Old Nick’s annual Summer Schools and Hobart Rep, and fortunate to perform abroad for the Sussex Drama Society in 2019, Dan loves theatre and cannot wait to return to the stage with such a wonderful production and team.

Year 10 Visual Art gets ship-shape

The Year 10 Visual Art installation project from Term 3 took things to a whole new level! Students battened down the hatches with some project-based learning that challenged their problem solving and critical thinking skills, while also giving them an opportunity to learn to communicate and negotiate as a functional team. It is made out of completely repurposed materials, as the group had to be resourceful, just like people who don’t have material wealth. Such a clever project!

Spotted in Richmond

VET Tourism recently visited Richmond to learn about the history and tourism of the village. Some of the students hosted the group by leading them on their tour, which included tales of convict history, a visit to St John's Church, the Richmond Gaol, Bridge and of course, the Lolly Shop!

Winter Woolies donations

Thank you to everyone for your kind donations towards the St Vincent de Paul Tasmania Winter Appeal. An amazing 400 or so items, ranging from warm socks and scarves through to sleeping bags and blankets were collected on Friday and will help people in the community to stay warm.

Year 4 Bluegum artists in the making

A beautiful bouquet of artwork flowers in all shapes sizes has created a vibrant art display in Year 4 Bluegum, where students were inspired by the flower artwork of Georgia O'Keeffe.

An adventure down the Tasman Peninsula

VET Tourism also journeyed down the Tasman Peninsula where they embarked on a tour of the Port Arthur Historic Site and took part in a Pennicott Tour. The students conducted allocated tours and were assessed against criteria across six units of the Certificate II in Tourism.  They also visited Tasman Honey, which is owned and run by Sandra, the Grandmother of Ruby Goddard, one of the VET students.
